"Cathy and Diva - if down the road you want to breed your dogs and register the pups in the AKC you will have to submitt a DNA sample as well."
Gail when do I need to do the DNA on Lilly?? Would that be just before I get her bred, as I certainly will be AKC registering her pups - with the AKC being the only registry accepted overseas and no telling who may be interested in purchasing pups from us ..... especially if I get her mated to a well known European stud ....

Cathy - I agree with DeDe - just go ahead and get it out of the way - so its done!
OH and Dream weighed in at 28 lbs @ 15 weeks! she is all legs and looks a bit on the thin side, without her siblings to eat with she kind of got lack luster about eating - but I've caved and started giving her some cooked liver and lamb and she is eating much better now!

Saava was 6 months old as of thursday... He is now 74 lbs and 24.5" tall and the most agile and creative escape artist around... the boy can get through the most amazingly small areas and I would never guess it from his size that he could.. the boy is a houdini... and a handsome one at that... I have to get some photos of my husband stacking him... hard to get decent profile pics that really show off his conformation at this stage... the back legs are still longer than the front but not as much as two weeks ago... he is nearly as tall as Gemma who at times seems the same height, till you get just opposite them... and you see she is taller still.. back on track with current weight postings: Saava Baba is 84.5 lbs at 6.5 months... or 27 weeks I am guessing his height to be around 25" tall as he is still shorter than Gemma who is 26.5" but not by much... Yes, he is very very big boy but he is just such heavy bones. His legs and feet are still much bigger than Gemma's. He went to the dog park yesterday and is the biggest baby there. He is wary and keeps his distance from the dogs and wants to play but is unsure of himself and the venue. He is the opposite of Gemma completely. She ran into the park at 4.5 mo's old and figured she owned the joint. Baba is respectful, leary, unsure and keeps his distance and his tail tucked down. He is calm and not nervous but unsure. He got knocked over by a dog running full throttle and it scared the Beejeezuz out of him. He needs more socialization at the park because he is not sure about anything there. He has been twice before, once alone and another time with Gemma. He was totally independent and inquisitive when Gemma was there, but yesterday without her? He was not sure at all and stuck close to me. After he got knocked over by that dog when he was not looking, he then stayed right next to me and even got on my lap and stayed there. He is a Marmaduke, big baby... all the people there loved him and thought he was the most beautiful and sweetest doberman they had ever seen... but he was such a baby! He is a long ways from maturity! but he sure looks grown up!

Not to offend you Diva, but i think and i'm sure some of the other will agree with me, that 85 lbs for a 6.5 are just to much, even if he is a big boy and maybe heavy boned, but gez girl, be carefull with that weight 25" and 85 lbs, not working well together in my opinion. Just saying, because i worry about that little guy and his health.
I know Apollo was and i a big boy and i just checked what he was weighting back then : 6month 60.5lbs, 8 month 69.8lbs, 9 month 82.8lbs, 11 month 85lbs Babaa weights 25lbs more at this age then Apollo did

Great post Tina: not offended because I know you care about me and my dogs... great post so what do you suggest I do? **edited by Nellie** Every one who has had a litter of puppies or actually bred and raised Dobermans or any breed for that matter can put their two cents in... The boy is all bones... he is not fat, the vet said so... the people who saw him at the Dog park all said the same thing.. His bones are massive, he is lean and trim and can run jump, leap and keep up with any dog at the park... but he is 85 lbs... I feed him once a day if feeding raw and twice a day if feeding kibble. I feed him a measured amount based on his size and age. He eats like a horse and is HUNGRY! He plays NON STOP all day long... he goes goes goes and burns massive calories. So at 6.5 mo's old do you think he should be on a diet? Should I see ribs showing and spine or hips? I mean come on? Whats a parent to do with a kid who is just big? He is not built like Gemma, he has uptuck, ribs show, palpate hips and hip bone are there shoulder scapula is there and my vet who has Rhodesians and Dane's said he is not over weight at all, he is lean and healthy and it surprised the shit out of her that he weighed as much as he did.. Maybe the scale is off? I do not know, but he weighed in at what I thought was 81 lbs and then it kept going to 84.5 lbs... So chime in all who are caring like Tina. **edited by Nellie**

If I have to remove off topic conversations from this thread once again, I WILL lock it. You will then be forced to PM Gail with your puppy weight info for her to chart and update. Come on people, can we not be somewhat adult here? This thread is for PUPPY WEIGHTS! Granted, we all love pictures, but, that is what the Picture and Video sub-forum is for! Also, we will NOT allow personal attacks nor reference to other forums. This is not a place to air your dirty laundry. This is an educational forum. Let's keep it that way please.
