Baba just got back from his 5 month weigh in... he is a whopping 66.5 lbs... we went to Home Depot and he was introduced to a noisy bustling place with lots of new sights and sensations and he was a 10 on a scale of 1-10... He has only walked on a leash a half dozen times. he does NOT know 'how to heel' yet he walks perfectly calmly on my left. He does NOT know how 'to sit', yet he sits when I stop or stands calmly or lays down... yes, he lays down calmly on the end of the leash in home depot while surrounded by sounds, he has never heard, sights he has never seen, people he has never encountered. Later We went to the local pet store, which was a totally new experience.. they have loud screeching birds and bells on the door, he balked at first attempt and I accepted his fear and let him walk up to the window and see the birds inside, spoke calmly to him and praised him for his calmness and I walked back to the door, opened, bells rang, birds screeched and he slowly but deliberately walked in after me calmly right past the screeching bird and down the food isles smelling all the goodies. He calmly and sweetly greeted a little 3 yr old boy with a nose to nose greeting, just as calm as could be.. approached a baby in a basket and wanted to smell her... he was curious and calm the whole time. I tell you this boy is absolutely amazing... He just never ceases to amaze me how calm, composed and gentle and sweet.. What a major score we got in this one... Gemma rose is our first score but she is ALL DRIVE, just go go go... I would take her to home depot on a pinch collar because I know I would have to correct her constantly for her gregariousness. She would be pulling and pulling. Baba was just on a loose lead the whole time. He is so different from the Gemma Rose... night and day... Attachments:

Both are looking great, but why you need pic's for register Lilly Thats a first one i hear The only reason as far as I know that you should need a picture for the AKC is if you are getting a PAL (Purebred Alternate Listing) The PAL is limited to Obedience trials. We did that with Dex since he is a rescue and we want to trial him in AKC Rally. Just wanted to add a little to Cathy's response - if you have a puppy that is born outside of the United States and you want them to have AKC papers so you can show in AKC events then you need to send in 3 photos with the request for AKC registration, along with the copy of the foreign papers and the foreign pedigree. The UKC also asks for 3 photos - even with AKC papers - I just ran into this with Lestat who is American bred - with AKC registration papers the UKC still wanted 3 photographs. Now the thing that SHOCKED me - was when I went to do the litter registration for Jazmines' pups - I could not do it until I submitted a DNA sample for the database!!! Now I bred Jazmines Mother - she was born in Canada though and then sold to me here in the USA - I just did not think of Canada as a Foreign country and once she had her AKC papers it just did not make sense that they would want DNA because she was foreign born!! So all foreign born pups - have to submitt 3 photos along with the application for AKC registration - and Cathy and Diva - if down the road you want to breed your dogs and register the pups in the AKC you will have to submitt a DNA sample as well. The AKC does work with other registeries - but it was a bit of a nightmare with the breeding I just did - AI with the dog that is in Italy- registered with the Italian Kennel Club - That Application for Litter registration required that the stud have a DNA sample on File (try explaining that to the italian stud dog owner ) and the vet that did the collection had to sign the litter application form, the foreign stud dog owner had to sign the litter registration form, the inseminating vet also had to sign the litter registration application and of course I had to sign it - THANK goodness though because the pups will be born here - I won't have to deal with the photos or any thing else to get their AKC registrations. OH and newly updated growth chart will be uploaded shortly

Well finally caught up - or I think I did please look the chart over and post here any corrections or age / weights I missed in playing catch up - and if anyone has a pup who is now grown - but you charted the weights at the different ages, post them here and I will add them - like I just did for Lestat

Thanx for the info Gail: FYI the info on the chart is reversed for my two guys... Gemma is listed as Saava and Saava is listed as Gemma... Gemma's weights go all the way across.... Saava is going to be 6 months in 10 days... His weight at 5 months was 69.4 lbs and I will add his 6 month weight in 10 days.. As for registration: I am not yet decided on registering my dogs with AKC because I do not give a crap about them and their registration. I am certain that I will be registering them with UKC and IABCA and quite probably forgoing AKC registration altogether... I have kept Gemma's Russian Registration and Saava's Polish Registration. So having them AKC registered is still up in the air... but its nice to know what will be involved if we do decide to register them and at least be prepared!
