The close group here knows that Pudg has had Lick Granuloma twice in the past 15 months once steming from my absence when I was hospitalized and once from allergies and an insect bite. Four months ago another episode started and turned very bad but I thought I had it under control until today.
Last Sat. nite he got into his bandages and reopened a wound that I thought was close to healing. What I found out today was that the reopened wound couldn't be flushed because the 3 opened drainage holes were clogged with "Hair"!
My vet went in under the openings and found more hair (loose & attached) and told me he'd never seen anything like it. He scrapped down to last skin layer just in front of tendons to free the area of hair!!!
Theres no way that area could have ever completely healed with that much debre there plus the amount of dead skin already exsisting! He assured me he cleaned the entire area and expects a nice recovery.
He just came home from his 10 hour vet visit and I do feel sorry for him and all the folks at the vets hahaha!! When they called me to come get him I could hear him in the background....................not a happy boy!! He's in alot of pain because of the depth and debereing, I have some personal experience with debreeing when I used to get my exposed ankle bones scrapped twice a week for a few months. Mine was easy the bone was dead but every once in a while the doctor hit a....................... and WOW!!! So I know what Pudg is feeling now. Strangely enough the vet gave me Tramadol for him!!! thats what I take (+ Lyrica) so we're now on the same drugs, I mean meds hahaha!!!
Never fun to see any animal in pain especially your own, the Vet said it will continue to be painfull for atleast another full day.
Hopefully this works out well for Pudgie, he's had it ruff so far being shipped over 15,000 miles and asked to adjust and bond to many times. I'm ready to start are walks in the woods again and with a little help from the weather girl some cool winds are heading are way! Fun how his leg looked just like mine, hairless, skinless, his wasn't quite as mangled but I feel the boys pain.
He's up in his chair and fighting to stay awke just annoy me with his whimpers, brat!!! .....we're tired.. nite. Von & Pudg
