Just got back from the vets a few minutes ago! The opening is about 4.5 inches long and and about 2.5 wide at its widest mid-point. After the vet scrapped it up pretty good the blood and skin was very fresh and the new skin was perfect! This will take longer than I thought to heal so hopefully in another 3 weeks the bandage will get smaller and once it doesn't have to be so restricted around the hook he can go for longer walks. The weathers is cool here so he wants out but theres nothing I can do other than car rides which he loves! Patience isn't a Dobermann trait! or a Vons!!! thanks for asking Tina!

I'm glad to hear he's on the mend! Let's hope this is the last of this that poor Pudge goes thru. I know it's not been an easy road for either one of you. HUGS to both and wishes for a speedy, full recovery for Pudge.

At the vets at 8pm tomorrow so I hope his healing is progressing. Today he was sick of the bandage so the bitter cream was smeared all over it, he stopped messin' with it!! He's got a knuckle bone now so he's very happy and distracted, love the knucks!! Weds he weighed in at 85lbs and thats his heaviest ever. His chest has gotten more pronounced and he's thicker in the flank areas. He looks good 28" even and 85 is a good size for a 4yrs/9 months Dobermann he does look like his dam and has the head from the Betelges dogs which is their best attribute. There doesn't seem to be anything in it but it looks good . Von

I'm doing ok, thanx! Just got a cold spell here in SW Fla and the cold does effect all the hardware in my leg and foot but not much I can do about that. Just got back from the vets and the opening looks good but it hasn't closed up as much as I'd hoped! Its been months now since Pudg exercised and he's lost so much muscle in his rear legs and front shoulders. I think after the bandage swap on Friday I'm gonna take him to run with a very small bandage on then take him back to the vets to use the one sided wrap. Plus he's getting on my nerves becoming a jerk because he's so bored. Toys, knuckles, rides in the car can only fill the void for so long this boy needs to run, search and fill his lungs! Von.

Pudg has his smallest wrap on after this mornings vet visit! The wound has closed some and looks fresh and healing. We're hoping to get rid of the wrap in 2 weeks and use a lightweight bandage that I can apply and change at home. As soon as he has closure he can begin exercising every morning like we were used to doing prior to all this mess!! Looks like we've gone "porker" in the past 5 months. I've mentioned Pudg looking heavier than ever but this morning he weighed in at 90lbs!!!!!! Two weeks ago he was 84.5, as for me I came in the heaviest of my life and its abit concerning with my injuries involved so I need to get serious about loosing some pounds this year. Right now I'm 100 pounds more than I was leaving the hospital at a unhealthy looking 159lbs!!! 259lbs!!!! you big fat POrker Slob!!!! Von.

The wraps came off this morning!! HooRay!!! This poor mutt has had a bandage on since Aug. the color of his hair that was hidden is a washed out tan instead of dark brown and rust!! I still need to keep the surgery area lightly wrapped or he'll get after it but tomorrow morning it will all come off for his first exercise free run since July!!! He's lost so much muscle in his rear and front shoulders that it will take atleast 3 months to rebuild it. After about 4 weeks I'll try to sneak in where I used to take him when he was 14 months old because theres some incline small hills there and that will help build him back up! I mentioned before that he's at 90+ pounds and the thickness at the withers is very noticeable!! I hope he can hold at about 85lbs once he's back in shape! Thanks for listening, we've been through alot of deep shit in the last 3 years!! Still here!! Von & Pudg

The area got a little ozzy after a while from the run so I think he needs another day or three to help lay another skin layer over the spot! It has really closed up to half the size it was three weeks ago. For a time it didn't look like it was closing up at all. The boys right rear legs looks like it was in a knife fight!!! His hook point is bare of hair so I'm lubing him up with Vit E. there every other day! I found this liquid thats made in Florida (farms are in Texas) that use Aloe as a main ingredient along with citrus to promote healing and health its called Ted's Aloe made in Bradenton Fla. Thats about 45mins north of me!! Its for internal or topical use right now I'm using it as a topical. We'll see if it gives good results. Aloe has always had good property for healing! Hi Tina miss ya HEXE! Von
