Tina, my take on this is: Dobermann's are medium size dogs ..... Her frame is also that of a medium size dog - so therefore I wouldn't want to put too much weight on her to overstress the frame ..... ACL blowouts and other tendon and ligament injuries are NO FUN to have to try get healed and sorted out and the more weight we put on a performance animal (any animal for that matter) the easier it is for such HORRIBLE injuries to happen !! I have been and still am really careful about what and how much I feed her - believe me, she is a Bon vie Bistro, and would eat her weight in food every day if she could
Thanks for the compliment though - believe me this Ribbon Whore isn't about to "hang up" her ribbon gloves yet ;D
