It says nothing about the future health situations but if theres a problem thats contested that day of the test then you may have a jump on the problem. It needs to be said to new owners that the test is for that sequence and tells nothing of the future. There was another forum that made such a huge thing out the testings that it actually clouded the actual analysis and tried to make a mockery out of breeders who don't test. There are dogs that pass with flying colors that drop dead two days later from the disease their testing for. It has its place but theres nothing better than knowing your lines history first! Then taking the appropreiate steps to logical breeding practices. Gain some knowledge, Alot! Then apply common sense and luck is a must! Von

Dobs4ever - I think it's great that you do the CLINICAL health control, in this way you at least have confirmation on your dogs actual health situation.
Let's get a few things down to the fact:
Holter/ultra sound and echo - gives a present health situation of the individual dogs. NO - and I repeat NO dogs to my knowledge has dropped dead one ot two days after having a clinical "clear" test result. HOWEVER Testing for the PDK4 mutations = USA DCM/DNA test by Merus - ANYTHING can happen, and regardless whether the dog has tested pos. homo, pos. het or negative, which has been confirmed by Meurs herself.

Guys that is why I said at this tim normal. I wrote an entire article on my blog when the PDK4 test first came out addressing the issue. I have also stood firmly against posting a dog ANY dog as DCM clear as none of the test test tell us that at all.
But I am thrilled that I had ONE day of peace - the day I got the normal results - it is like so far so good until it isn't.
I am working now on setting up a cardio clinic and brining in a cardiologist to do Echo's - I am fortunate in that I bought my own holter several years ago.
