After trying everything I know and asking advices on skin, coat and digestive problems I tested Pudg by sending blood to Spectrum labs. I 've owned Dobermanns since 1965 and have been associated with them since 1958 in that time span to now I've never dealt with allergies in this breed but I have to now. I should have done this much sooner so the poor Pudg could get some relief much sooner, my bad. It seems after all these years of training, breeding and showing Dobermanns I've turned in my worst effort in regards to overall care for this boy. Alot of mistakes here!
The plan is to go on Hills ZD Ultra for 30 days and see what happens. I'm hoping he could switch to Natural Balance who has two offerings that could be tolerated along with some wet food and treat bags to go along with fruits he gets. Every year as the dry season comes into play here in Florida he suffers from the landscape chances too. Hes not allergic to alot of grass and weeds but I'm in the middle of researching that right now as to the place we go to exercise. He IS allergic to PALMS Naturally hahahaha!!! I just want his paws (toes) to get some relief I've been soaking them with oils and washing with mild soaps but it seems that theres a natural course it needs to take. If anyone is experiencing skin and coat issues and have seen the process progress through the seasons its worth it to do the allergy tests. Pudg and I have been through alot in the last three years and hes just getting ready to turn four. Poor Pudgie! Von

Thank you for the info, I mentioned on another thread that we have a few of Dr. Beckers vids and she offers advices to think about. Right now with Pudg having so many allergies I've decided to strip the diet down and the protein level also needs adjusting. I've never been a fan of Science Diet but have used their medical issues products in the past and they along with Royal Canin have spent tons on researching so I'm using the SD HZ dry food with the wet for 45 days and evaluate where we're at then. There is some decent choices from Natures Balance thats alot better than using the HZ in the long run but right now we need to get down to bare tatics. Theres a strong possiblity that the ground (dirt) trees (leaves, pollen etc) can also be a main cause because the dog is effected more in our (florida) dry season when the natural terrain changes drasticley here. With the help of Bitten (member here) I think her advice as to where this genetic flaw stems from seems to have merit. Its a dog thats was widely used and appears in alot of pedigrees along with alot of skin and coat conditions too. Yet he kept being bred because he was a conformation and Sch. titled dog who sired a dog that was IDC winner and IDC producer who produced an IDC winner and producer. Funny how that happens. Then theres always blaming the dams side hahahaha! Egos and little to no respect for the Standard (the breed)!! Von.

update; after 2 weeks theres a little improvement under the chin and a little less scratching. His toes are still pretty bad and he actually busted one open last night so I'll be medicating both front paws today then wash them down tonight. I think its working but we may get stumped if the main issue comes from the terrain here. Grasses and leaves just might be the bigger problem then shots might be needed for the winter months, hopefully not year round. This dog has more issues then all my Dobermanns from the past, Combined!!! He has conformation and sport champions throughout his pedigree and his Grandsires were the two most popular dogs of their era, go figure. I guess having a pedigree filled with champs and sport titled dogs looks good on paper but doesn't mean they don't come without issues. If its a living breathing being theres NO guarantees at all when it comes to health, both physical and mental!! Von
