I give Lexi fish oil caps ( although hit and miss I admit ) But I am thinking of giving this a try and adding it to her food.

She doesnt have the thickest coat around, downright bare in spots like her back legs and neck area. Was hoping that this might thicken up her coat a bit. Let me know if you have any comments on it or anything else I could try.

This stuff will grow Hair on a Bucket....as my friend likes to put it. I am in dog rescue and we get many dogs coming in with skin and hair loss issues. I am using this product through someones recommedation. It was started to help promote hair coat on my one Male Conformaiton Aussie who was lacking a lush full coat. I have used it now for 2 months and am thrilled with the results. I use it on all my Aussies but orgianlly for the Male Stud Dog. I can't say enough good things about this product. You have to keep in mind this takes approx. 2 months for this product to start showing any signs of working to get into there systems and for the start of hair growth. I Have a dog with a rare disorder called EPI, which is an absorption disease and causes him to not be able to absorb nutrients that he needs. He was loosing his hair and I bought this product to try to give him some good minerals and vitamins. He now weeks later has started to grow back his hair and his hair is gotten less dry. I am thankful this product was reviewed for me and that it is affordable.

Hi Kim, I give my dogs a coat supplement called Mirracoat. I give the oil form, but its also available in powder - and works wonders for dogs that are big shedders. I had my Airedale on it when he stared shedding large patches on his flanks - the Mirracoat totally irradicated that problem ..... Here is a link to it :

I have both Rex and Lilly on it and neither of them has the flakey skin that many Dobes have. I also regularly get asked if I "top dress" my dogs at the shows .... because their coats are so nice and shiny and soft too ....

This stuff was reccomended to my mom, years ago by her vet in South Africa for a white Bull Terrier that had dreadful skin allergies, and it worked really well on him ....

Between my mom and I, I reckon we've been using it more than 30 years on our dogs .....

Ty, good suggestions Von and Cathy. I have heard of Mirracoat, so thats another option. Well, I think I will get the smallest one ( think its a 1 lb jar ) and maybe take pictures of her problem areas and after a couple months look for differences...providing I can get her to eat it. Maybe if I dress it up in yogurt or something lol.

Hey, you're welcome .... I'd love to know what your results are on the seal meal .... I went and looked at the ingredients and I'm sure you're gonna have NO PROBLEM getting your dog to eat it .... my guys LOVE the seaweed salad we buy from Wholefoods, and lustily sit and watch us eat it, and expect a helping of their own

I'll repeat my opinion on suppliments when you use a quality food. Do not "stack" additives because if you won't know which ones are positive and which are negative results. Be carefull what you use and the amounts you use. Remember what works for one may actually be a negative for another.
Now to everyone (cathynu) HA!). Dobermann coats are NOT supposed to be shiny or soft! The coat should have a "clean" appearance and be slightly "coarse" to the touch. Not a hard texture but definetly not a soft one. Theres alot of causes for a Dobermann to flake and one of them is the over use of oils in their diets. Also look into any oils you use and see if Vit E needs to be given too so that the oils will activate. Von

I have to agree with Von, a good quality dog food should prevent the need for supplements. We will occasionally use some Nupro when we are working jumps to give a little extra nutrition on active training days, but for most dogs a good food will have everything they need.

Well, thats a bit why I have done the fish oil caps a little hit and miss. I sometimes think...too much of a good thing.. etc etc. But I was hoping for more improvement than I got, and while her coat is a bit better than it was, I really was hoping for MORE. I have tried many different foods of very decent quality IMO ( and prices lol ) The only one i havent had to really force on her is the Natures Recipe Venison and Rice. She eats it well, it has improved her skin compared to reactions from other food. BUT with that being said she is also very very sneaky and will eat anything thats not tied down if she thinks it could be swallowed. So I also know that there is a good chance that her other "food items" are not helping with the skin/hair issues.
I hope that a little more "Umpfh" will maybe give her a boost to counter act some of the other nasty stuff she gets ahold of. And yes I would love to be able to get ;her away from the other stuff and have talked till I am blue in the face to the ones that either let it happen or forget to clean up the byproduct she gets ahold of.. and they have improved alot, but there still are OOPS moments.

Ok i bought 1 lb of it and Apollo gets it now for around 2.5 weeks and i do not know wha happens, but he got a lot of his coat back, his whole body has now the babyhair and he feels very soft and nice, not nekked anymore. If that because of that stuff, you can bet i will stick with it Maybe my baby will have soon a full nice coat again

That's awesome Tina!! I just got mine today I had about. 1/4 cup of chicken stock leftover from making soup and mixed it in. That with her kibble and she dove right in

I took pics. Of her thin hair areas s I will have to uploadtjem and compare down the road.
