My Dobie lady is 8 years old.. always active and energetic... but she started losing weight.. it was like one day ... i just went wow... she looks "ribby."I had been feeding only the best food that i had thought.. Innova and Evo.. So i took her to the vets for checkup.. stool sample neg.. blood test indicated liver disease.. i was stunned.. >:(but to make matters even worse it was only a couple of nights later that i was lying on the couch with her and felt a lump under her nimple.. yes it was breast cancer.. the vet said if her liver issues were not so bad he would remove 4 breasts... but because of the liver there was too much of a risk to operate..we bought the ID dogfood and ID cans of food... she would not eat them.... and i needed to concentrate on her weight most of all... so through alot of research...I found a diet for liver disease.. or any healthy dogs .. but healthy dogs would just reguire more protein.. Lady gets 4 small meals a day of cottage cheese, yogurt, brown rice, boiled chicken minced, oatmeal, sweet potatoe or pumkin.. along with the med she takes about an hour before she eats.. what a difference already.. only two weeks and her hair glistens.. she has gained all her weight back.. and has enormous energy and attitude.. i know with her diseases.. it is only time.. but i believe i bought that quality time from this diet.. and now my collie eats this too..no more dog food for me.. even her poop is small..meaning all that nutrition is being used the way it should be...just thought i would pass this on...if you have the time and finances..this is the way to feed in my opinion..
