Hello , today i change Ninette's post and while they were down i notice her left ear went inward (towards the head) while she was alert watching another dog nearby , the ear does not do that at home or when she's playing on those 15 to 30 min while they dry , she does have an indentation or pocket? inside the ear in the back of the natural fold , do you guys think i should use bumpers ? Thanks Stretching the ear here she is with her ear inward

It was hard to see in the first pic's. But the last one i would say, you have to stretch the ear very well and maybe its time to use the bumper, i nevr had too. Always just made sure to stretch the ears very very well

Always just made sure to stretch the ears very very well Tina i stretch the ears so much that i fear they'll break , I'm using the bridge too but i think i should stop using it . Can i position the bumper higher that in the Van layne pics ? i feel those bumpers are a little to low down in the bell of the ear , any thoughts ?

The bumper needs to be positioned where the pocket is in order to push it out, so put the bumper where it will do the most good . And GOOD LUCK You say you stretch the ears, do you back tape or use glue, are they slipping, if the ears are stretched well slipping after stretching is the only way it would seem to get a pocket.

Day to me - the pocket that I refer to, is usually on the inside near the crown of the head - and to me yes it does look like she has formed a pocket just above where the skull and ear meet. I put an arrow on her photo to show where I think I see a pocket forming It could be that you need to use a size larger tampon or backer rod - that area where the pocket is, must be pressed and held flat against what ever support you are using, otherwise it will "puddle" or sag and form the pocket at the base of the ear.

Thank you for placing the arrow in the exact spot Gail , that's what i thought too that pockets form further down in the ear ,that's why i wasn't sure if it was a pocket or what , could have been formed while the ears were tape up over the head after surgery ? maybe I use 5/8 backer rod , is there a thicker one? i can make it thicker with the bumper , for now i removed the bridge and will re post on Sunday with bumpers in .
