;D - True Gail .... it also allowed me to work with our current problem .... her snapping and growling at other dogs, kids and strange objects. I kept her on a short leash, and whenver another dog would approach (and there were many), I'd tell her to leave it and praise her when she responded in the correct manner ..... Sadly when my husband has her, he stands and looks around in "another world" and lets her get away with murder .... That is why it is so important that all owners are on the same page where correction is concerned .... Unfortunately it doesn't work that way in this establishment ...... My husband STILL hasn't learned that you can't be passive with a proper working Doberman .... or it'll dominate you in a heartbeat, and it keeps on being left up to me to do all the correction and we can't achieve exactly what is needed because not everyone is on the same page Cathy , i'm in the process of training my husband how to deal with the dobies and so far is going pretty good , be patient you can do it too . now my son is another story , he likes when the dogs jump on him so he wrestle with them all the time .

Theres a very simple solution to the jumping an wrestling, just come up with a training "word" for it. If the key word isn't used the dog knows that it isn't acceptable behavior. When the key is given for playtime the dog understands its alright to jump and wrestle. Theres nothing wrong with some good hard play for a Dobermann to partake in. Its physical, can get loud, and stimulating all things that a healthy Dobermann loves to be. Von

Hahaha Tina - I LOVE your explanation!!! Dogs are really no different to our children. The men brag when the kids do well and call them "my son or my daughter" but when the kids do badly or act bad they are suddenly "your son or your daughter"
