Natural Bug Spray/Refresher for dogs. Posted by PrettyFeetsMom » Wed Jun 15, 2011 2:09 am
The below recipe works to spruce up your dog in-between baths and also works to repel gnats and mosquitoes on dogs and people.
Equal parts of Listerine (the brown generic one) apple cider vinegar and water
1/2 the amount of the other ingredients of Avon's Skin So Soft Bath Oil.
Put this in a spray bottle and shake well before using. Spritz them all over, brush into skin then wipe with towel.
I have left out the apple cider vinegar and it works just as well.
Posted by von cosack I also use that combination and the apple cidar vinegar needs to be natural as well. Braggs is the best brand name and has been around for ever. If your dog will drink water with a capfull of ACV in a 2gal pale it is an excellant addition for their intestines also. Another good rinse is with Lavendar, however it is expensive and its usually in Natural Food Stores only. Von

I like to take one of those spray bottles and fill almost all the way up - then add 2 to 3 capfulls of Tea Tree Oil and 1 or 2 caps of Oil of Citronella. shake to mix and spay on as often as needed. The tea tree oil is great for the coats and the citronella is a great natuaral insect repellant.
I have also mixed with the Tea Tree Oil any of the following which are also natural insecticides Oil of Cedar Oil of Marigold Oil of Eucalyptus
I also spray on the dog bedding - love the smell of some of these natural oils.
