i was also concerned with my lady dobies weight.. she just suddenly looked thin.. checked out her stool with vet...neg... then we went in for blood work.. everything came back great except her liver profile.. enzymes were leaking into blood steam and she had a high reading.. that indicated liver disease.. now on precribtion food .. can and dry... and one pill a day one hour before she is permitted to eat... she is gaining weight again and acts completely normal energy level and appetite.. suppose to go for ultra sound but so far we cancelled.. we just cannot bare to hear the c word.. if we continue with this diet ...which of course we will .. hopefully the liver will improve... what can cause a dog who has had the best food and vitamins everyday to suddenly lose weight and have liver disease.. Addison disease..toxins, heridatary..i just hope things turn around on the next blood test.. and i hope you also find out why he is losing weight.. if the activity and food intake is the same.. then something is usually going on... my dobie is 7 years old..

Okay we went back to vets today to have foot rechecked and I was going to ask for a full panel of thyroid tests and CBC. I asked if I could weigh her even if it had only been a few days just to see if there was any more loss. Well the tech and I are busy looking at the weight up top when we hear her foot slide off the scale and hit the floor....and when we put her foot back up she weighed 75.6 pounds I didn't ask for the tests after she was weighed cause I don't think that is a bad weight. She must have slid her foot off the scale last time and nobody noticed. Lesson learned here is rather than worry myself sick the next time I will watch her feet or re weigh her!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the false alarm and thanks for all the concern so happy everything turned out so good..what a big relief..
