We had 10" of rain this past Labor Day Monday, and suddenly 4 large fire ant nests showed up in our fenced in back yard. Does anyone know of a fire ant killer that wont affect my dogs as this is where they need to use the restroom, and I'm affraid of putting down the stuff I have ....

I put down "Fire Ant Killer" the dogs don't go near the stuff and their gonna avoid fire ants anyway. I've never had a problem spreading a pest killer out, my dogs never go near it. Their nose knows!!!! You can pour boiling water into the nest and the best remedy for bites is BBQ sauce or just use straight vinegar. Von

I use the boiling water method myself.

lol Ive seen ppl use this method with yellow jacket nests -- the ones that burrow into the ground. Fire burns up the gasoline and kills all the nasties...all gone
