Potty training Tips
Housebreaking your new puppy need not to break you. with patient, diligence and a calm, authoritative manner, you can teach your dog exactly wherehe should eliminate and where he should not.
1. the key to sucess is simple: timing is everthing.
2. take you puppy outside immediatly after eating, playing, or napping. keepingthis rigid schedule will prevent him from making mistakes in the house.
FACTkeep this number in mind: 15 minutes after your puppy eats or plays vigorously, he will need to eleiminate. As he gets older, he will be able to wait longer. An adult dog eleminates three or four times a day and will learn to hold it, within reason.
3.some trainers recommend giving your dog a command, like go potty... at the moment your pup is coreectly doing his business outside.
TIP Always feed your and water your puppy at the same time every day.if he eats at regular intervals, he will relieve himself at regular intervals too.
much like a little boy who daces up and down when he has to go, a puppy's behavior will let you know that he has to go too. look for the signs and take him out.
Tip even if you are in a hurry, don't bring the puppy back inside, soon it went. if you do, he will learn that once he went, the fun walk is over and he'll start to "hold it" for longer periods.
5. Mistakes happens. if you catch your puppy eleimnating in the house- and he will- correct him with a firm NO. take him outside for a walk and praise him lavishly when he does his business outside.
Tip if you find that your dog eliminated in the house when you weren't looking. do not punish him. its to late and he wont know, why he gets pusnished.
And don't forget rome wasn't build on one day either
