HB 1451 and Your Citizens Rights
Can YOUR state legislators fight off a law that pays bounty hunters to report you and allows legal home invasions? Is this the last stand for dog breeders?
Do not disregard Texas HB 1451 because you don’t live there!
Texas is one of the top five economies in the world! It carries a ton of political weight and is therefore a primary target for the animal righters. If dog owners allow HB 1451 to pass, they don’t deserve the love of a dog. That may sound harsh but that’s how we see it.
Back in June 2011 Texas Governor Rick Perry signed HB 1451 into law, stripping the rights of Texans and giving a green light to puppy mills. If you think that’s an exaggeration, let us put it this way.
Do you plan a litter in 2012? Okay, so do you want to be subjected to unannounced inspections of your home? How about being required to report sales and pay states fees and face outrageous fines for what most would consider minor violations?
Did you say “no way!” Well take a minute and think about this. When HB 1451 goes into effect it allows the right of entry into citizens' homes without a warrant and when no one is there!
But there’s more. HB 1451 is sure to spread like green slime in a monster movie because it includes a "bounty fund" with which to pay people to report you to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR.)
The Texas HB 1451 bounty pays up to $1000.00 to the bounty hunter each time he or she turns in a breeder who is someway, somehow, “non-compliant.” Wow! We could be seeing a new Animal Planet series. If you run on female puppies (or kittens) in order to decide on your next generation, you could be in violation right there.
Texan Shirley Lawler is watching this closely as is SAOVA, a powerful legislative site (you should subscribe) with Susan Wolf now at the helm since lobbyist Bob Kane retired. Track HB 1451 there. Watch closely because what happens in Texas is comin’ your way.
No matter what state you live in, you are going to feel the effects of HB 1451 if it passes in Texas. Protect yourself and your state. Send this information to everyone you know. Ask them to take a 30 seconds to send an email to the office of Governor Rick Perry governor.state.tx.us/contact/. It doesn’t matter where you or your friends live – bombard the governor’s office. He’ll get the message. Oh and you can probably get your own governor’s email at SAOVA or just do a Google search so that you can cc your state legislators.
Please don’t email our editor about Rick Perry. We know he has a loyal following. Our editor liked him for the Presidential race because, as she said, his opponents were not much better as regards privacy law and animal rights. Do your own research if you are interested in any candidate’s philosophy and legislative record. You might also find Rick Perry’s position on radioactive drinking water in Texas wells a little worrisome.
Rick Santorum’s position on dog breeders is crystal clear in his infamous PAWS Speech To Congress and TheDogPress photo-coverage AKC BUYS PAWS? Contributes To Senator Santorum
Politics? That's what State Of Mine and Legislation is all about and how it affects YOU is what we're all about in this section. Watch your back trail, the Bounty Hunter may be gunnin' for you.
