Hello. Haven't been posing in a while. Life is busy! Thought I'd give you my update. After I lost my Strider last fall, it was an empty house with just me and my senior girl Lily. She'll be 12 this year....and going strong! So....I put feelers out for a red male. He will be my first serious conformation dog, and hopefully will title in Obed and Agility too. He is a charming fellow ! I love the stage where the ears are sooo damn big compared to their head lmao. I love the photo with the red posts and sleeping !
And for 12 yrs old Lily looks superb ! She sure doesn't look like an old girl. Does Rudy terrorize her quite a bit? Or are they pretty mellow?
Well, congrats on the new and happy looking family !

She tells him off, but he just doesn't care and keeps going back for more. I'm on top of him quite a bit, so his behavior doesn't drive poor Lily over the edge! Strider was the same way. Poor Lily. She has to put up with so much. ha

I won't make the obvious remark about Rudolph and being able to fly with those ears lol - but have to say - you are doing a great job getting such a long show cut to stand so well this early!! Good posting mom!!
Welcome to the world Rudy and you are gonna love living with your momma and aunt Lily!!
I am sure Rudy will keep us very entertained as he grows up!

Hello! Yes....Rudy has been driving Lily up the wall. Poor old girl. His ears have been standing like a dream from the very FIRST time I posted them. I hope it keeps up!!! I spend a lot of time, shaping and smoothing the backs and folds when I put the posts in. And I've made 'custom' posts to put in with fillers for the bell area so the ear is filled out when posted. He absolutely loves sitting still while I fiddle with his posts.....NOT. HA. Then I cement them in with skin bond. It's a tough life for a puppy. ha He's keeping me busy. We're in two different conformation courses, puppy agility and a puppy obed. class. But it's fun! We will start a few sanction shows soon. Here's a little video of him from when he was still a cup head. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmxiyBbsl2A&feature=relatedAnd here's one from a few weeks ago at the beach next to my house. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIQoUEJi-rY&feature=plcp&context=C35acd14UDOEgsToPDskLQGyIBrVAxQ1dk8IV2bQCNThis is the first time I took one of his posts out to fix it. Already standing well...but didn't like the fold in front....it's fixed now....as you can see in the other pics.

Welcome to the Forum, I'll "20th" it, sure hope that boys head gets long and wide so he doesn't look like Rudolph the Red Nose you know what!!! Hes a very cute lil boy and looks like a happy boy too. Please let those nails grow out a little, I understand that this "cat like" paw thing has been around for sometime now however its not part of the Standard. The nails need to be at a certain length so that the toes learn to grip to sustain power. No different than our fingers in conjuction with our hands. Some styles have nothing to do with proper form and function and snubbed toe nails defeats a dogs toes gaining strength to be able to reach with power and grab and hold. These motion are vital to ensure a Dobermanns ability to work and be normal. Showing should be a exhibition to display a proper Dobermann not a dog that conforms to the latest fades that can deter from function. Good luck with this nice lil brown boy and I'm not being negative I'm simply stating some facts about the breeds willingness to use its paws and how and why they need normal nail growth to attain strength. If our nails are trimmed back beyond a certain length we loose strength and dexterity also. Please consider my observasion, a little more nail has nothing to do with him getting used to the exercise of trimming nor will it effect his positioning at a show. However he will have more power and be able to scratch the hell out of someone he wants to grab, good boy. Von
